Welcome back Sparkle Chicks. Are you like me, and have a ton of earrings that you want to see displayed and not in a drawer? I mean how’s a girl to choose the perfect pair if their all jumbled in a drawer? Well, you have come to the right place. I am going to show you how to recreate this DIY Rustic Country Earring Holder so you can easily display your treasures. If you would like to catch the original live you can check it out HERE.
YOU’LL NEED:
- Metal mesh trash basket (You can pick these up at the dollar store)
- Spindle Candle Holder (I found mine at Hobby Lobby)
- A Topper Accent Piece (For this one I used a wooden bird)
- White Paint
- Liquid Gold paint (Get it HERE)
- Sanding Sponge
- Diamond Dust (Get it HERE)
- Hot Glue (Get it HERE) & Hot Glue Gun
- E6000 glue
- Mod Podge
- Paint Brush

If the wire basket isn’t already the color you would like, I highly recommend changing it with spray paint. First you will take your Spindle Candle Holder and your sanding sponge and sand back some of the paint. Doing this will give you that shabby rustic look for your piece.
(If your Spindle Candle Holder is not painted then simply paint first then sand for the rustic look)

I had this bird on hand, feel free to use whatever topper piece works for your design. First I paint my topper all over with white paint. Next after the bird was dry, I took my sanding sponge and sanded back some paint. Sanding back the paint helps give it that country rustic feel.

First take your E6000 glue and apply liberally to the top of your spindle candle holder, take a brush and spread. Next add your hot glue to the top of the holder.
(The hot glue will help hold the pieces in place while the E6000 cures)
Take your mesh basket and place it on the candle holder.
(TIP: Match to the seams of the can and the candle holder to ensure a flawless front) Press down firmly for a minute or so until the hot glue cools.

This next step is optional, but y’all know I cannot skip the bling!
Take your Topper (in my case the bird) and coat it in Mod Podge and cover the topper in Diamond Dust.

Next, take your e6000 and brush it on the base of your topper. After add hot glue to the bottom and place it on the top of your basket. Again, press firmly until the hot glue cools to ensure it holds while the e6000 sets.

Here is where I used the Liquid Gold paint (Get it HERE), on the birds crown and highlighting the edges of the wire basket.
Once all your paint and glue dries you will have a perfectly shabby chic earring holder. Thank you for following along today, I cannot wait to share my next DIY with you.
