Trash to treasure

TIME TO GET CREATIVE
Hey peeps! I had so much fun creating this fun and whimsical stag head trash to treasure DIY! I finally got it finished and want to share with you what I added after we finished the LIVE! If you want to watch the full DIY video you can watch it here – https://fb.watch/h_sURTP4Gn/
I started off with a wine themed sign I had picked up at the Goodwill! I saw some similar things on Pinterest such as this adorable wall mount https://www.pinterest.com/pin/129408189263453778/ and my mind got to twirling with ideas! I had recently picked up some stag head ornaments from Hobby Lobby that were 90% off so I decided to go for it and have some fun! Unfortunately HL is out of stock but I did find some similar ones on Amazon here https://amzn.to/3ZkSi6q
the process
Let’s talk Wood U Bend! I knew I wanted to frame out my stag head so I chose a gorgeous frame from Wood U Bend for the center and added two matching flourishes for each end to fill up the rest of the frame! You can get creative here and choose any pieces that suit you here on the Wood U Bend site https://woodubend.us.com/ref/RoyaleFunkyJunque/ Heat it up with a heat gun, lay on some wood glue (never use hot glue when applying Wood U Bend) and then press firmly onto your piece!

After my Wood U Bend was glued on I made my favorite Old World Metallic Bronze paint by mixing black paint with some Metallic Copper and painted the entire piece making sure to get in all those nooks and crannies of the WUB. Once my paint was dry I used some antique gold Rub n Buff and using my finger applied over all the fancy detail of the WUB pieces. It really brought out all the beautiful detail and made it pop!

the fun begins
After I had my base all set I took the stag head and painted the entire head with the metallic mix…I repainted the antlers with some Liquid Gold and also added gold to his eyes, nose and mouth! I added a crown that I got from the At Home store and hot glued that to his head! I used a combination of hot glue and B7000 to attach the head to the frame. I did take some decorative trim and frame out the base of the head for even more fancy and dimension.
For the sides of the project I added large glue dots and painted them with the liquid gold and it finished the sides off perfectly and gave it a perfect nail head trim look. Looks very castle-ish like it came straight from the Scottish Highlands (at least I like to think so)! LOL
Voila
After the live was over I did end up adding a lot of small crystals throughout the entire piece to give it my signature sparkle! We even added a bowtie and to add even more whimsy I ordered on amazon a small pipe https://amzn.to/3CI4p3Y plus a monacle https://amzn.to/3XiZSg8 that I will adding over his eye! He is going to look very dapper and dashing when I get those added!

I hope you all enjoyed this DIY and get creative!
Sparkle On,
Kathy
